Been eyeing off the Ibanez Darkstone DN600 for while, RRP $1295 too dear for a whim purchase anywayz saw them go to $899 recently, gettin' better......so the store that had an ad WILL BEAT ANY LEGIT ADVERTISED PRICE so i do some sniffing around on the net and in Melbourne one store was selling for $599....my store matched it and sold it to me for less than cost hahahahaha not happy at all but had to honour the ad.

Sure was, man its solid and has an ballsy tone ! Although its not an Ace guitar i will use it in the show as its very flashy and looks the part under lights, it will explode in effects with the metalflake finish.

So thats a Flasher, A UFO and the Darkstone all in one show, bedazzled they will be

Everything here is expensive , its because we live so far away ans shipping is costly for importers.

Tell me about it. Vic had a soft gig bag sent to my house and the cheapest shipping I have found so far is about $55.00 US. The most expensive has been approximately $350.00.

Does anyone have any bright ideas so Vic can get his case ???   :? :? :?

You can pack it yourself and use a large satchel bag through US post as an option?

I don't totally agree with this. Pretty much 90% of the guitars I have come from the states. I purchase my brand new pink Jackson RR5 from a real store that was also selling it's products via e-bay. I paid $AU990 from my Jackson RR5. That's including the shipping & a large Jackson Hardcase. At the time I was looking around to see if I could buy it here in Sydney Australia. I when to Allen music (& I am very good friends with the guitars department manger) I asked what the damage would be to get an RR5. I was told $2880, with no case. And I'd have to wait 6 months to get a pink one...if I was lucky. Guess what I did...ebay store. My point is, if I the individual can purchase the guitar with the hardcase & get it shipped for under $1000, then the big retailers should be able to do better. Same thing again with my Godin Multiac Spectrum Steel SA. In Australia $3500...I got it from the states for $750 including postage. This took a longer time to find as most stores wanted $350 just for the shipping...But after about 6 months of looking I got it for $100 postage. It just the greed that Australian retailers have come accustom to. If they want to be competitive they need to adapt to the changing economic environment. A few weeks ago I received a UPS package on a Sunday. I asked the courier what the story was dropping it off on a Sunday. The courier said to me, it a new world, people expect service these days.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

Exactly, I've been buying guitars from the states back when our dollar here was worth half the US$, so shipping was AU$400 in most cases and I was still getting a better deal than through the stores here, plus there is more variety and options.

My Charvel case I just got is another case in point, they would only sell me a Fender branded one here and it was going to cost more. So I bought it from a US Shop who was prepared to offer a service.

Don't forget also, a LOT of guitars aren't made in the States, so they have to be shipped from Asia, either to here or the States.

Dannii's RR5 was made in Japan, so was shipped to the USA first, then again to Australia, and Fender Australia (who own Jackson) can't do a good price shipping direct in bulk to Australia.
