they didn't put out no substitute because they couldn't use Roberts voice.. Robert sued and one.
The band split up before they could make Ashes. ASG sold very little records as well.

More than a time machine, I wish I had an alternate reality machine where I could go and see what would've happened if they had offered an acceptable contract to Robert, he'd stayed in the band and Chrysalis had released 3 singles from VVI!
What does everyone think the next 2 singles would've been?

Man Chrysalis Records had to be a bunch of fucken amateurs to think they could do a video for BGR & have Mark miming to Roberts Vocals. In the end after all the fucking around & legal fees it would have been easier to record the Vocals & do the appropriate singles & do the clips to support the album, to support sales. These companies have huge legal departments. Didn't one bright spark wake up & say, hey we can do this. I think this set the ball in play for what was going to come. I do blame Chrysalis Records for fucking the progress of VVI from the start. If VV wanted to sue anyone, he should have sued them for their incompetence. ASG was a brilliantly recorded commercial album. I should have been huge. Chrysalis Records dropped the ball again to push it's rightful success. I saw it in Australia. VVI, pretty much zero airplay. Slaughter, fucken so much airplay you where sick of hearing it. I remember my bother's girlfriend at the time telling me, oh look it awesome a new band, Slaughter. I didn't even bother explaining to her that that was pretty much half of another much more superior band VVI. By then it was too late.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing. I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.
It was laughable. They had a goldmine and greed + incompetence screwed it before the album could even be released...and then kept screwing it over.
I don't completely blame Chrysalis. Vinnie could've/should've fought for Robert...especially if he loved him as the singer so much. It destroyed the marketing for the first album. Vinnie clearly pushed the record company to the edge with his primadonna behavior, giving them the impetus to minimize the marketing push for ASG and jump on the Mark Slaughter bubblegum train.

I always wonder if Mark and Dana would've quit anyway later on even if Vinnie didn't shit it all down the drain so early on. I think they would've quit eventually. Vinnie had the voice to do the vocals himself but he set himself up for headaches by hiring a singer IMO. I'll repeat myself... those Warroir demos rocked with Vinnie singing. Vinnie had the look and could've been the frontman, songwriter and the virtuoso guitarist.
I wouldn't have cared if Vinnie was a primadonna towards the Record Companies. Axl Rose does it & get away with it. It adds to the illusion. Plus they are all corrupt muddafuckers anyways. I was involved a little in the industry & they are just like the banks. For Vinnie Vs the Record Companies, you can't say one is a good guy & the other is the devil. It's a game of the pot calling the kettle black. People don't realise, when a record company gives you money or books studio time or pays for a big flashy film clip, the artist has to pay that back with interest. Just like a bank. They want their pound of flesh. There are not free lunches. Apparently it's all 'recoupable'

That why I said, it's the pot calling the kettle black.
Still doesn't explain why Chrysalis didn't push ASG. For their own interests if anything. And still doesn't explain why Slaughter was virtually turned into overnight success. Even if VV was being a dick, the record company should have pushed ASG as much as Slaughter. Then again, you fuck with the wrong people & they won't mind losing millions if it means your ultimate fall from grace. I'd say VV would have pissed off a lot of big wigs.

Dannii, is that really the kind of activity we want to be discussing here as civilized adults?
What Vinnie does with his or other people's wigs is his own business.

Vinnie and his manager were the main problem. They told the label robert was signed. Why should the label pay to.re record . the only error the label did was not checking that robert was signed .
Also vinnie got the original deal on a lie as robert was supposed to be part of a band when he did the demo. Then terms changed . Robert was not treated well by vinnie. That behaviour in 84 or 85 was the start of the fall of vvi, before it had even got started.

I never understood why Robert would've gone back into the studio for the GFH/Guitarmageddon sessions. Was he a paid studio musician or was the plan that they were going to be a band?
Either way, Vinnie screwed him over the first time and he goes back for more. I still think that album with a re-mix by a qualified producer & engineer and it would be pretty amazing.

Exactly what he is doing now.
