Re: revenge era kiss mention vv
well firstly to mention the name VV once aint so exciting - I didn't exactly piss my pants - he was part of the band once - and secondly they are as good as VV's promises - which he has in fairness delivered on recently and with good grace - they didnt ever tour the UK with the revenge stage set - BS pr ala KISS stable of talking shit and not delivering - Thanx Paul for the incincerity - it's been fun over a lifetime

A lot, a lot, a lot of Doublespeak. As a kid I grew up worshipping KISS, but now I've grow tired of all their overbearing over hyped baloney. Still my all time favourite band, but that doesn't dismiss that they are full of shit. KISS is just another corporatocracy. Ultimately only one thing is important to them, the bottom line. AKA $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum.

YES. It's a business. But it's a business built around art and KISS turned their back on the art years ago. (I felt like they made a step in the right direction with SONIC BOOM, but also felt it was a slap in the faces of Ace & Peter.)
I'm also sick of the constant lies to make themselves "appeal" to whichever group.
-the originals will never get back together
- we'll never up the makeup back on
- Alive was not doctored
- there are 4 stars in this band
- we pick the best songs available for an album, it doesn't matter who wrote them
I've often thought of creating a blog that is a listing of all the times KISS has contradicted themselves...but I'm soooo lazy. List the quote with the year and then how they contradicted it or just plain lied.

Yeah they are ego driven but that's their style and they don't hide it.
I think the whole tour fell through because revenge was pretty much a failure like creatures of the night. They hype things up like no tomorrow but like gene admitted that he didn't write many good songs in the 80s is a breath of fresh air. I like the band .

Re: revenge era kiss mention vv
Yeah, I know. KISS is still my favorite band of all time and will be (most likely) until the day I die.
It still doesn't mean that it doesn't disappoint me that two guys that have such an avalanche of wealth can desecrate such a truly unique concept with such self-absorption and greed.
I'm all for any band making as much money as possible. THAT is something I totally believe in. However, if you betray your art just to make money, it's sad. What's worse is when that someone is a multi-multi-multi-millionaire and they betray their art just to make MORE money.
They claim to have bent over backwards to make Ace & Peter happy...so long as it didn't include:
- giving them more money
- allowing them to have their songs on the Psycho Circus album
- allowing them to have creative input into the Psycho Circus album, promotion or tour
- allowing them to include THEIR 80s music on the tour but requiring them to play KISS's 80's music
I'm not blind. I'm sure Ace & Peter are so damaged after their years of boozing, drugging and fall from fame that they would've eventually become unhappy regardless of any concessions made to them by Gene & Paul. But don't you think the Psycho Circus album would've been more enjoyable had they allowed Ace & Peter to contribute? It might not have been as "polished", but it wouldn't have been so bland!

Yeah psycho circus was a mess. It should have been equal even if peter ended up with some low grade tunes.
Also its sad that Bruce got left out and the currrent line up is boring . But still a great band and as much as i dont care for a lot of things they say they still say some great things.

Yeah, I think Ace only played the actual "guitar solo" part of most of the songs. Otherwise it was Bruce playing the intro, outro and break parts. (From what I have been able to glean from reading.)
And do not blame Peter for that Shit-Smoothie of a blandallad I FINALLY FOUND MY WAY. Paul co-wrote that with Ezrin. Hell, Peter doesn't even play drums on it. He was pretty much forced into it.
I've always said my favorite song on PSYCHO CIRCUS is INTO THE VOID. Not because it's the greatest KISS or Ace Frehley song every. I don't even think it's the best song on the album. It's because you can actually tell it's the original members playing and it SOUNDS like a KISS song should sound. Imagine if they had done that for an entire album? And Peter doesn't sound terrible on the drums...not like a studio drum machine or anything...but definitely acceptable. So why did they bring in a ringer?
So, if INTO THE VOID is my favorite but not the best...then what is? I think the best written/composed song is WE ARE ONE. I think if they had used the original guys like INTO THE VOID that song would've been a hit single.
I'm also fond of PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE STATE (OF ROCK AND ROLL). I know it's UNBELIEVABLY corny, but for me there's something really fun about it.
I really like parts of WITHIN, but I can't put my finger on what keeps me from wholeheartedly loving that tune. Maybe it's too long? Maybe it's that backwards playing section? Maybe it's a little "over" produced and could be a little more raw?
Other than that, I think the rest of the songs on PSYCHO CIRCUS are underbaked or overcooked.

Weird. When I mention I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE or WE ARE ONE the feedback is "they suck". I disagree.
I think PLEDGE has a great, driving beat. Most say the lyrics are cheesy, but I think that's intentional. I find them to be fun and clever in it's own way/style. Paul's vocal performance is great. Nice riff. My complaint is mostly about the production; overdone backing vocals and lack of a true Peter Criss drum part which could've given it a Love Gun album feel.
WE ARE ONE is a great ballad. Outstanding lyrics. A little touch of Beatles via Bon Jovi as done by KISS. Fantastic lead vocal that is emotional and inspiring with a nice tone. Even the huge, flange background vocals really work. Again, I wish Peter were on drums. I think this is a classic missed opportunity by KISS in their grand tradition of not using some of the best songs as singles. Imagine this song in concert with 10,000 fans singing along to the chorus! Now imagine how PC was released not too far before 9/11 and America using this song as a rallying cry to show we are united!

I read/heard somewhere that Paul did some solos on PC, as he used to do in the Dynasty/Umasked days.
I Pledge Allegience was one of the ones attributed to him from what I remember.

I was just reading some stuff and it says Tommy did some of the guitar work too.
I really think the lead single from Psycho Circus should've been I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE. It sounds pretty good live:

Has anyone on here listened to the "collectors version" of RAISE YOUR GLASSES? It is a song I strongly dislike, but I think that on the collectors version that it might actually be Peter Criss on drums. It doesn't sound like Kevin Valentine...so who else could/would it be?
