Even though the song has been abused, I have to say that the solo to "R.Y.L.A.H." is ,IN MY OPINION, one of the the most well constructed/played solos that I've ever heard.
It is perfect for the song.

70's Scorpions is where it's at. With Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker(The First scorps album).

I bought Intrance to have a listen but I just don't get into the stuff with Uli. Lovedrive onwards does it for me. Something changed with Mathias.

As much as I love Kiss and the Dynasty album (I do) it's so cool that the Scorps put out Lovedrive in the same year. A totally kick ass rock album. I like it better than Animal Magnetism, Blackout was great and LAFS is just the pinnacle of greatness.

In an interview, Jabbs once said something to the effect of, 'Uli plays for himself. I, on the other hand, play for the people'. I really can't argue with that.

Matthias also said something like, 'Michael just jams all the time; doesn't really write any songs'. That's actually a kind of fair assessment, too.

Even so, I like the pre-Matthias Scorpions the best.

The thing is, most of it didn't age too well with me; except for the Lonesome Crow album; which is a classic.

From the Uli era, my favorites are pieces such as 'longing for fire', or the tokyo tapes version of 'we'll burn the sky'.

From the Matthias years, I gotta go with 'Rock You Like a Hurricane'. ...very cool guitar solo.

Anyway, 25 years ago, I was a 'total fan of all things scorpions'.

Uli Jon Roth could shred the walls down 35 years ago and inspired guitar greats Yngwie J Malmsteen and Marty Friedman among others. Mathias though a tastee player has never had this monster technique.
