"The Ankh Warrior" (A song for Vinnie)

Post by calmwaters22 »

"The Ankh Warrior" is an original song that I wrote and recorded as an ode to Vinnie Vincent. He has and always will be one of my greatest inspirations in music. Thank you Vinnie for all that you have given us over the years. I hope you enjoy the song!

Thanks so much,

“The Ankh Warrior”

Written and Recorded by Brandon Purcell for Vinnie Vincent

Verse 1:
He came from up north – from the wind and the cold
So the world might hear his guitar
Set his sights on the west – as he set out on the road
On a journey to fortune and fame
With a song in his heart – and the weight of the world
May the music light the way

Bridge:
Bearing the symbol of life
Guitars they scream in the night

Chorus:
Whoa whoa – the symbol of gold
The cry of the Ankh Warrior
Whoa whoa – like the eagle so bold
The mark of the Ankh Warrior

Verse 2:
Disillusioned was he – when the contracts came
The weight of their greed made him bleed
They cast him aside – to a world of pain
As the curtain fell on his soul
With his guitar in his hand – he will make a new stand
When the night came calling again

Bridge:
Bearing the symbol of life
Guitars they scream in the night

Chorus:
Whoa whoa – the symbol of gold
The cry of the Ankh Warrior
Whoa whoa – like the eagle so bold
The mark of the Ankh Warrior

Chorus:
Whoa whoa – the symbol of gold
The cry of the Ankh Warrior
Whoa whoa – the eagle so bold
The mark of the Ankh Warrior

Yeah, that was pretty rockin'. Well done.

Vinnie would have to be well pleased with that.

I forgot how Ankh was pronounced in the US. It sounds more like Unkh, we say it like Ank.

I've always pronounced it onk. (Like honk, but with the "h" silent.)

According to dictionary.com it is pronounced angk. (Like angle, but replace the "le" with "k".)

This just reminds me again how Kerrang said Vinnie put the "ank" in wank. As a joke, those big kidders.

(To the tune of LET'S PUT THE X IN SEX)

He - put - the ank in wank
He puts on a dress and looks just like a skank
(Baby) He - put - the ank in wank
Looks just like his mother but we all know he's a private guy

Hopefully if Vinnie hears this song it may inspire him to write more material (wishful thinking). Going by recent developments you could probably expect song titles such as "Roach Motel", "Island of Misfit Toys" and "Vic's DICKS" 8)

How greedy is it to steel from fans, sell guitars that you didn't ever own to.fans, not pay your first singer for demos and first album, give band members bible size contracts, ripped friends of in high school, pay vvi band members virtually nothing then abuse the and say bad shit about them when they try to make a living. stole guitars from pretty much every guitar maker he worked with. Give me a fuvking break.

doublev2,

It was my understanding that this was a Vinnie Vincent fan forum. My intention in posting my song in regards to Mr. Vincent was purely to share with other fans a simple homage to the musician. I am fully aware that Mr. Vincent is most likely no saint by any stretch of the imagination, however, none of us are. It is simply a song which I wrote from my heart and worked extremely hard on, playing all the instruments as well as singing the vocals. I recorded it from my small make shift home studio. One could consider it a gift to both Mr. Vincent and his fans alike. If you are not pleased with the lyrics then you certainly have the privilege of your personal opinion. All that I ask is that you would please not publicly make remarks such as "The lyrics make me puke" and "just the lyrics that have me spewing puke out of my ears." I have not personally attacked you in any way shape or form, and I would ask that you please return that same sentiment. To all of you that have made positive comments in reference to my song, I thank you very much with all of my heart.

Sincerely,
Brandon Purcell

Brandon,
You've got to understand that many here at VVFF have personally been ripped off and had trusts betrayed by Vinnie. He has lied and told lies about us.
There has also been a parade of hardcore Vinnie fans who blindly follow the man. Who continuously berate us for not joining them in their unquestioning faith. They have attacked this site by creating dozens of fraudulent accounts and leaving angry, inappropriate posts.

So now we are weary and wary of fans that are overly effusive.

We here at the VVFF are fans of KISS. We are fans of the MUSIC that he created 20-30 years ago. But we are not fans of the 60-something man that has become a hermit, that raises his hand in anger to a woman, that continues to attempt to perpetrate scams against the fans who gave him whatever fame or wealth he has and whose business practices have prevented us fans from getting unreleased music and endorsed products.

And mostly, we are fans of eachother as friends and people trying to make it in the world.

Brandon. I should re state what I mean. Most of us have been burnt by VV including me. I just can not dig the lyrics but I do understand that different people are in different places. I do regret being so blunt but I also think its fair seens as Vinnie has time and time again said he hates this forum and pretty much just by coming on here is enough for him to hate his fans. This forum was basically set up because Vinnie was not letting people speak their own mind.. even asking a question on some of his songs and the inspiration was enough for him to boot a fan.
I just can not dig the kiss are assholes and vinnie is great thing, i have heard way too much and witnessed way too much to agree with that. One thing about kiss good or bad they managed to keep going. As for Vinnie the victim thing doesn't work if you do the same thing or worse to others.. (and in my opinion Vinnie should be thanking kiss like he was doing just before he sued them and lost in the 90s) he had many opportunities he fluffed big time because of them and without them I am pretty sure he would have about 5% of the 5 or 6 hundered fans he has left out there..He can still make a living off being in Kiss if he so choose to.

As for your work I totally respect it. I respect your different position on being a fan (i was just like you once as anyone whos been around for a few years will tell you). I ran a 100% positive board which Vinnie and his lawyer told me that I was doing a great job many times .. so please forgive me if I offended you .. I know full well its not nice to hear that your lyrics make me want to puke.

Thanks for your time on this.

A+++ for effort Brandon. As far as lyrical content, Paul, Gene & Vinnie are all as good & bad as each other. Takes two to tango & they all wanted to dance. (just to their own individual drummers) :D

Music is one of the few things untainted by political crap. Music existed before politics, organized religion, and shit that is destroying us. Why can't we stop fighting over whose feelings got hurt by Vinnie, and enjoy it. Music is peace, music is freedom. Music is meant to liberate the heart, not clench the teeth.

The first thing I get asked by a double v member is "how are they treating you at the VVFF?" Everybody knows this shit is going on against members of your own forum. Vinnie publically anounced that you were a bunch of people sitting at your computers taking your pain out----that was the jest. Now, look at yourselves, acting out your pain. Fueling his "victim" mentality. Adding gasoline to the fire.

I have experience with this kind of bullcrap. Don't get mad. Hurt comes first. Identify it. Step back from the situation. And quit dwelling. Emotional manipulation is the most effective type. This knowledge comes from years of experience, letting others get under my skin. Then, I started reading psychology, and identifying the problem from the inside out is the first step to liberation! Free advice. It always takes two to tango, so just don't dance. Sit in the back of the gym, grooving to the music.
