Shoot U Full Of Love with Mark Slaughter on Vocal

Post by SystemsFail »

Hello everyone, I guess this post will serve as my introductory message here! Sorry if it comes off as being obnoxious, but that may be in keeping with Vinnie's whole persona.

Anyway...

Unlike many of you and the Vinnie Vincent himself, I actually really disliked Robert Fleishman's vocals and absolutely adored the change to Mark Slaughter. All Systems Go is one of my all time favourite records not only because of the superb songwriting, which is almost always present with Vinnie, but with the performance and change to what I felt was a superior vocalist. I really don't care that Vinnie himself disagrees with me.

Recently I was looking around the kissfaq.com website and stumbled upon a snippet of "Shoot U Full Of Love" with Mark singing. I was overjoyed at finding this since I prefer Mark's vocal. I searched around the internet in every nook and cranny I could google, but nothing turned up this version. I kept running into poor live recordings with Mark. So I've come here today with hope that one of you fine board members has this version of the song and is kind enough to share. I figure there is a chance that the song resides in the "Dannii's Place" section of the board, but I sadly do not have access there. So please take pity on me and hook a fellow VV fan up!

Thanks in advance!

I don't think there is a full version out there actually?

Is that a no? :(

Seems a little harsh.

Is there some kind of double V gauntlet I can subject myself to in order to be deemed worthy?

I editted my 1st response!

I can understand why you like Mark. Robert's voice can sound a little "harsh" at times but for me, the Mark version sounds crappola compared to the original! It does sound rushed in Mark's defence though!

Hi SF, welcome to our world.

I think the song you are after can be found included in the ASG Unmixed set.

Actually this site has the full ASG demos there. You'll like the mixes as Mark's voice is WAY up in the mix!

OH WOW! Pardon the pun, but that really is a treasure!

I have a few things like the Warrior demos on an old vinyl bootleg, but so much of the stuff on that page is new to me. Thank you so much for the link, poserboy71.

Maybe I should have singled you out by name! Thank you shramiac, for your awesomeness in uploading the song for me. It was super cool of you.

I should note that Genebaby also let me know where the song was on the board as well. So I should single him out for extra special thanks too.

Everyone has been really nice so far and I am grateful for the help.

I like both Robert and Michael on their respective albums. The albums are so different in songs, sound and approach that neither would sound good singing the other. To my ears anyway.

Mark was no good on Shoot U Full Of Love, but who knows how much time and effort was put into it as it was probably never intended for release. Or was it part of an experiment to see if Mark should re-do the vocals on the first album after they lost Robert?

Oh, and you're welcome SystemsFail.

No disrespect to Mark or Robert(both awesome Singers in my book),,,but I've (we) have never heard Robert Live with VVI so it's hard to compare .

A fact I am saddened by to this day. The first album tour should have had Robert in the band still. At least for one appearance it would be cool to have heard the band live with Robert.

i HATED fleischman's vocals with journey...LOVED them with invasion.

his vocal style was more suited with vinnie.

mark slaughter does not have a stronger voice than fleischman, period.

I don't have a problem with Mark's voice but Robert's voice is purer to me.

Mark sounds like he is trying to rip off Robert Plant to me (see Heavy Pettin' especially). And as for Slaughter...the first album is alright but that's the only one I have and I don't listen to it that much...he can get really cornball.

Mark Slaughter is a good singer when he doesn't try to sound like Robert Plant. Mark Slaughter sounds at his best when he is being Mark Slaughter.
