which line up had it all "nailed down" musically?

Post by AceAlive1 »

for me....its a toss up between the creatures makeup era and the makeup era of now....those lineups...

Gene,Eric,Paul,Vinnie

and

Gene,Eric,Paul,Tommy

could literally play ANYTHING in the catalog and not be relegated to the "classics" which i despise because i do not want to hear cold gin again...or even i was made for loving you butched by the original line up.

we've seen the current lineup play things off the elder at a live show which is very odd but people were digging it. so why not try a full song?

and besides....the creatures lineup played most if not all of creatures in concert at various show with songs mixed and matched here and there. vinnie's new spin on old solos made there tolerable again.

anyone have a lineup they just love?

Vinnie, Eric, Gene and Paul are the most musically talented by far!

The line up I love the most? 70s Kiss...not reunion Kiss

I think Vinnie wasn't allowed to be himself...Invasion is easily in the top 5 Guitar albums of all time (not to mention what a bad ass Bobby Rock is) The songs are killer as well.. and although I am definitely a big fan of what Kiss did during Vinnie's brief tenure (who know what else they could have done)....but as for my favorite Kiss line up nothing beats 1974-1977

Mark, Eric, Paul and Gene or Peter, Tommy, Gene and Paul were the longest lasting and most cohesive.

Definitely! Their one album combined is the model of stability all other bands should strive for

i love that era and u hit the nail on the head. reunion kiss wasnt as good as it should been. mainly because peter did JUST enough to play and didnt do the workaholic gig that eric carr did. if gene krupa taught you to play the fuckin drums, ACT LIKE IT!

some musicians regardless of era just CANNOT leave the street life and bad boy image alone. you're famous, act like it.

The reunion bored the shit outta me and I've loved Kiss since '77. I knew it wouldn't live up to the memories I gathered as a kid.

I went to the reunion in '96 and remember feeling ashamed of myself for periodically yawning throughout. I thought they put on a better show when they were hungry again on the Revenge tour.

Effin aye!

When us poor saps in Oz FINALLY got to see them in 95' (after a 15 year wait!) on the Convention Tour, they were great. The in 97' on the Reunion Tour it was meh! Songs were slower, Peter boring compared to Singer and Ace no comparison to Bruce.

Any of the none makeup bands I'd be happy to see again........but CotN/LIU would be my preferred! 8)
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

The Original line-up was probably the most exciting to see live...circa 1977.

The Creatures/LIU line-up was probably the most dynamic musically of any line-up, IMO.

I saw the reunion tour on it's second leg in Chicago at the Allstate Arena. (Or whatever it was called at the time or is called now.) I thought the band played well with the exception of ACE, who was clearly out of it. He played a step behind the entire night. Everyone around me/us in the arena was talking about it.

I saw the Psycho Circus tour in Chicago (can't remember if it was at the Allstate or not...but probably) and on that night Ace was on fire. It was like a different guy performing. Unfortunately it was Peter's turn to phone it in. He was sloppy and loose and fell behind more than a couple of times.

Yes, the original four could be hit and miss.
