OMG! That's amazing...! It makes you feel bad for the guy considering what he says on this footage and the eventual outcome that obviously ruined helped ruin him creatively, emotionally & financially...

I've seen one where Vinnie is crying & talks about writing a book.
I got Jesus in my fax machine. I saw Ho Chi Minh down @ Burger King. I dated Vinnie Vincent as a Drag Queen. I still don't understand a f**kin' thing.

i saw that a long time ago. he fails to say he did about the same to the VVI members, and also Eric Carr had the same deal and was pretty happy. Vinnie had no devine right to be in Kiss, but he acts like he does. I am sorry, I know the record industry sucks but its a little too much. And like I said he only had 18 months in Kiss, he had most of the 80s with a shit load of talent to make money, but didn't and he wouldn't even be interviewed on tv or any intereset at all if he hadn't been in Kiss.

I know Kiss tough but how many times can he sue and be told he has no ground to stand on.

Re: 1997 Video

the way he was with VVI was so simliar to Paul and Gene. Basically Kiss is a duet and the other guys are hired hands. No other Kiss co-song writer has sued them or even complained so why is this only Vinnie?

Oh well that's the breaks... He felt wrong done by Gene & Paul pursued them legally and lost. It would be pretty hard to beat the KIZZ machine into submission.

i am sorry to be harsh, but that attitude of kiss v vinnie is why he is fucked. If he just went on and figured out what he can do with his skills he would not have to think of the 18 months he had with kiss.

I don't know Dino, what can you say? I'm not sure why Vinnie didn't bounce back, i really wish he did .& I hope he gets through this ok :) But it was Kiss Vs Vinnie well at least in the courts anyway...he still has strong support from our forum and probably will continue to have despite the current climate...

That wig looks different to me Sammy, it's not the one we usually see him in.

Kiss did get hit hard financially, it's all in Chris Lendt's book, very interesting read. They just dusted themselves off and kept at it. Kiss spent the 80's staying afloat while appearing to be very successful.

The difference being is that HE WROTE THE SONGS and they attempted to fuck him out of them... and succeeded.

In the other instance , the s-LAUGHTER boys swindled his contract awayby sucking the labels cock and doing what they were told to do.

Rick, he sued for other things not just songwriting. He let things expire that should have been renewed and lost a lot in bankrupcy, non of that to do with kiss. I think non of us know if kiss screwed him or not. And the courts didn't find much wrong.

Vinnie whinging and complaining about how KISS ripped him off reminds me a lot of how Peter Criss craps on about how he wrote Beth, KISS biggest ever hit, blah, blah, blah. Both these bozos had a shot at greatness within the band and chose (for what-ever reasons) to walk out and try something different. In BOTH instances walking away was the wrong decision. In BOTH instances these individuals should have gotten on with their lives and made the most of the talents. Instead BOTH kept (and keep) crapping on at how hard done by (by KISS) they have been. Grow the hell up and accept the fact YOU fucked up in the making your OWN decisions. Whinging about the past ain't going to make a better future.

Yes, if you keep looking at your rear view mirror instead of looking ahead your bound to crash. Can't change the past, but learn from it & get on with the here and now.

And both went back . I do not doubt vv got less than he thinks, but its not only kiss responsable and like I say I don't hear anyone else complaining. V declares he was being ripped of on the revenge stuff too. How come everyone else that worked on revenge is cool. It's just a pattern that is inprissoning vinnie , a prisoner of his past.I know he is upset about kiss and you can see it in the video. But like I say over and over . he left kiss in 84 and never had another hit tune to make his money. He easily coukd have but he burned so many well documented bridges. It is so upsetting because I am a huge fan from the mid 80s and I know he could have done so well . It's just too much to blame kiss for all this.

Didn't he get a large amount of money when he signed to Chrysalis Records?

those multimillion dollar contracts are just "budget" on studio time and maybe advances
but its not that they pay you a chunk of money and you are set, you are supposed to sell as well
if you dont sell you owe $$ to the record company

Yeah but depending on who you talk to Vinnie was either fired or chose to leave Kiss... So which was it? Peter Criss was asked to leave Kiss in 1980 by the remaining members but Vinnie may have been let go...

If he left kiss then great, but he would have been let go if he hadn't of left, I am sure. Poor mark st john got hit with an even stricter contract and rules because of the vv rollercoster.

Also ace was still a partner in kiss when vv was in the band. This may have also been the reason vv had to stay in the chelsea hotel and got low pay, because as was still getting a big cut.

Ace still got a cut of the Kiss Kash after he left the band?? I never knew that?! I'm not familiar with the Chelsea Hotel? Is it a dive?? Sounds like Vinnie was asked to compromise too much... it would be very interesting to know if Gene & Paul slummed it during the LIU era... Doubtful.. They would be used to a certain high level of comfort and probably didn't sacrifice their quality lifestyle... LIU was a platinum seller in the USA so they must have been doing ok financially...

Ace sold up just after vv left. I believe he would even have had a cut of the lick it up tour profits. Chelsea hotel is famous for having Andy Warhol live there. I think some rooms you used to have to share the bathroom. It's not a dive but its not the Ritz. I think its better now.

Google sid vicious chelsea hotel to get an idea of how it was. Chelsea village was pretty drug infested n those days. Was lick it up recorded at electric lady studios?

I googled it & I see what you mean... Sid's partner Nancy was found dead there back in '78... I've got the DVD Sid & Nancy but I haven't watched it in years & don't really remember the hotel...it seemed to be frequented by the alternative crowd... I can see why Vinnie wasn't impressed, with his clean lifestyle he would have been horrified by the patronage there...

Lick it up was recorded at Right Track & at Record Plant in NYC :)
