I saw the great Carl Verheyen last night

Post by Slayer »

I saw the great Carl Verheyen last night at the Wild West Guitars Voodoo Lounge. Carl is rated by Guitar Player Magazine as one of the Top 10 guitartists on the planet. He played his ass off for over 2 hours at this clinic sponsored by Shadow Amplification. He was very appreciative of his fans and very gracious at the meet and greet afterward. Any one who wanted a picture or something signed was taken care with a smile of gratitude and he took the time to have a personal conversation with everyone. Carl is a totally gracious human being! Here are a couple pictures from last night and a video of a different performance so that you get a vibe of what Carl is all about. He is also a master of chicken picking like another guitar great that we all follow.

Nice Kevin. I too wish I could be that good, it's just not for me though.

You shred Bro!
According to you - you just don't write much?
It looked like Dannii enjoyed hanging out and playing some guitar with you when visited him. It was fun seeing you guys with Dannii's cool guitars. Many of us including you have great collections of guitars but it is always so much fun to visit a friend and to play their guitars. I imagine that it was fun for you to try out Dannii's guitars?

Ha ha, I get by but I'm not going to make a video anytime soon!!!

Dannii has more shred in him than I do, I'm more of a Pentatonic player, lots of bending, which I appreciate in Vinnie's style too. Love those wailing bends!

It was cool hanging out with Dannii for sure, great fun and I really dig his white Ravelle.

Still can't stand Supertramp though!

Yes, it was a fun event followed by a steak dinner with 2 other guitar playing friends.
Not a snarl in sight from the supposed evil, rock star bashing predator that might attack some one and beat them to within an inch of their life at a gas station LOL.
What a pleasure to see a world class musician that appreciates his fans! I posted this not to show off my smiling middle aged mug but to illustrate the fact that most musicians don't treat their fans like Vincent Cusano does. I have also met another world class player in Michael Angelo Batio who also was very kind to his fan base though I didn't document it with the same kind of picture although I could have easily.

It is true that WE ALL have more than one face :-)

Yep, if only Vinnie would take a leaf out of Carl's book and enjoy time with the people :) he may actually enjoy meeting some of us?!

Andrew,
I'm not a Supertramp Fan but what this illustrates is that we all have more than one face. He does the Supertramp Gig to make his living and in his down time he does his own thing that he loves. He also shares the wealth of teaching his guitar playing knowledge. It would be so great if Vinnie revived his career by doing clinics.

Too true Uncle Kev! Too true!

P.S. I know I'd shit myself watching V up close!
