ACE'S NEW GENE TATTOO?!?!

Post by PinkWiz »

For some odd reason Ace decided to get a Gene Simmons tattoo... I guess he REALLY wants back in KISS?

I know thats not ace but I think ace will do a come back tour.
15 years from ace leaving kiss to the reunion tour and 11 years since he left for the second time. If paul and gene are alive and well it will happen. However I guess peter will not be back after that book.

KISS' situation today is'nt as dire as it was back in 1995 when they actually needed to reunite to get back in the limelight. Gene would have Ace and maybe Peter back in a heartbeat but it's all up to Paul. He's happy with his yes men and not having to deal with the headache.

I don't see it happening as PinkWiz said G&P aren't as desperate as they were in 1995

I'm just glad I got to see them before they started putting imposters in make up...8/22/2000 Houston, where I grew up...easily in the top 3 concerts I've ever been to.

Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against Eric and Tommy...the new stuff is alright...but I have no interest in going to a concert or even buying a physical CD from Kiss ever again. If they announced a re-reunion I might be pleasantly surprised to hear the news...I don't know. But nothing will match the level of enthusiasm I had for Kiss from 1996-2000...even though I started listening to them as a kid in '83 and went to a couple concerts in the Carr/Kulick era....I remember being excited during the HITS tour when they decided to play mostly old stuff...aaah memories

I'm the opposite. I'd rather see Kulick and Singer than the orginal makeup band. Better musos = tighter band! And more choice of songs too!

Of course I'd most like to see CoTN/LIU era but alas................
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

I can appreciate that but for me the original band in makeup was a myth me and my friends talked about growing up in the 80s (when we could see Kulick anytime we wanted) and when I was able to witness it first hand after dreaming about it for all my teenage years...it was beyond music it was a religious experience. There are plenty of bands that I listen to/go to see for their musical ability in fact I would say for easily 90% that's the case but this was something else.

And no offense but I've always been underwhelmed by Kulick's leads...yeah they display technical proficiency but they aren't particularly memorable to me...I feel the same about Kirk Hammett

I will say that Kulick totally slays Hammett in every facet of guitar playing.

I couldn't agree more! I was inconsolably disappointed about the decision to shelve "Carnival of Souls" and do the reunion. I can't stand Peter Criss. If I could change history, I would have introduced Gene & Paul to Eric Carr in 1972 and said please do NOT answer any adds for drummers "willing to do anything". That said, the Tommy & Eric in Ace & Peter's makeup thing is just a mockery of KISS. It is the worst. I harbour no ill will to Tommy & Eric, but the whole thing is just repugnant to me. Either design new characters for these guys or take off the makeup.

I think my perfect lineup would be the one that barely existed on the Unmasked tour and Elder album of Eric Carr & Ace, but I was more than happy with Vinnie as a replacement. May he rest in peace, but I was relieved to see Bruce replace Mark and I actually think Asylum along with Creatures is the best of the 80's albums. I felt like with Revenge & COS the band were really going forward and sounding great. They should have stuck with it instead of becoming a lame nostalgia act.

For the record, I did get to see them on the Psycho Circus tour and preferred the Revenge tour with Bruce & Eric. I like Ace a lot and would be happy if he returned, but only if the songwriting breakdown was like it was on Dynasty & Unmasked with Ace being on equal footing with Gene in terms of number of songs per album. I would prefer they use almost any drummer other than Peter, but if they are going to wear makeup, please let the man come up with a new character.

The saddest thing for me was the passing of Eric Carr. I often wonder if they would have ever gone down the lame nostalgia path had he not gotten sick. Maybe the reunion would have morphed into Paul, Gene, Ace, & Eric Carr... who knows? I couldn't imagine why anyone would ever drop Eric Carr for Peter Criss, but some people are obsessed with the original lineup. Oh, and that doesn't mean I agree with the "Smashes" version of "Beth". That song should have been left alone. Regardless of my feelings about the song (I don't like it) or Criss, that was a disrespectful move.

Anyway, my two cents!

Blaspheme. Dave Mustaine was a hard act to follow. Kirk Hammett kicked some major butt, though. Masters of Puppets, the black album, And justice for all....

Other than the current line up I could only see ace being asked back for some reunion.

I don't ever see the originals back together. I don't think either Ace nor Peter are able to play well enough anymore to do a full fledged arena tour. (Not that Paul is either.)
I think the right thing to do is to retire the band or to finally pull the trigger on the "new" KISS. Hire 4 new unknown guys in their late 20s, keep their identities secret, put out a new album and put them on the road.
Open your window and see the real world

The most memorable solos on those albums are Hetfield.
