Blues Brothers

Post by poserboy71 »

The ORIGINAL Blues Brothers !!!! They helped this music find it's way to the mainstream . John and Dan actually cared deeply about the tunes and used their comedy and fame to share with and educate the masses.I remember my brothers getting this album for Easter when we were little guys. There choice of band members shows how serious they were. The musical careers that they revived with this movie is incredible. I'm still in debt.

A BONAFIDE CLASSIC !!!! Every moment and every tune is PERFECT !!!!

This is one of my favorite parts of the movie. The car falls FOREVER and Henry Gibson's reaction is PRICELESS !!!! This is Vinnie Vincent-like OVERKILL. AWESOME !!!!

One of THE most overated films in history! IMO
Promises made, crying in vain, all empty. Never accepting the blame and not letting go of the shame. A river of tears, as months turn to years, all wasted. On someone not willing to change. Now only a shadow remains! :(

Soul Men: The Making of The Blues Brothers

The pitch was simple: “John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Blues Brothers, how about it?” But the film The Blues Brothers became a nightmare for Universal Pictures, wildly off schedule and over budget, its fate hanging on the amount of cocaine Belushi consumed. From the 1973 meeting of two young comic geniuses in a Toronto bar through the careening, madcap production of John Landis’s 1980 movie, Ned Zeman chronicles the triumph of an obsession.

Belushi stops talking and starts listening. His own musical tastes vary only a hair. He likes hard 70s rock (Cream, Bad Company) and harder 70s rock (AC/DC, Deep Purple).

“This is a nice record,” Belushi says. “What is it?”

“A local blues band,” Aykroyd replies. “The Downchild Blues Band.”

“Blues, huh? I don’t listen to too much blues.”

Brief silence. “John,” Aykroyd says, “you’re from Chicago.”

One night at three, while filming on a deserted lot in Harvey, Illinois, Belushi disappears. He does this sometimes. On a hunch, Aykroyd follows a grassy path until he spies a house with a light on.

“Uh, we’re shooting a film over here,” Aykroyd tells the homeowner. “We’re looking for one of our actors.”

“Oh, you mean Belushi?” the man replies. “He came in here an hour ago and raided my fridge. He’s asleep on my couch.”

Only Belushi could pull this off. “America’s Guest,” Aykroyd calls him.

“John,” Aykroyd says, awakening Belushi, “we have to go back to work.”

Belushi nods and rises. They walk back to the set as if nothing happened.
